No. 35,344. Patented Nov. 26, I90l.
W. BRAASCH.
CHAIR SEAT.
(Application filed. Oct. 3, 1901 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFIClis.
WILLIAM BRAASCH, OF SHEBOYGAN, WISCONSIN, ASSIGNOR TO SHEBOYGAN CHAIR COMPANY, OF SHEBOYGAN, WISCONSIN.
DESIGN FOR A CHAIR-SEAT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design NO. 35,344, dated November 26, 1901.
Application filed October 3,1901. Serial No. 77,502. Term of patent 14 years To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM BRAASOH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Sheboygan, in the county of Sheboygan and State of Wisconsin, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Chair-Seats and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being'had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
In the said drawings, Figure 1 is a plan view, and Fig. 2 is a front elevation, of a chair-seat embodying my new design.
My design relates to the new and original shape or configuration of the article.
The leading or essential feature consists in the unitary design for a chair-seat made the subject of illustration, comprising the peculiar and novel shape of the border A, extending continuously all around the sides and rear end of the top B of said seat and everywhere at a higher plane than that of the adjacent portion of said top, the two front ends of said border A extending to the front edge of said top B and the said border being everywhere of a uniform height and having a flat upper surface of greater width than the height of said border above the adjacent portion of said top.
0 Minor features of said design comprise the shape of the front 0 of said seat, which is everywhere vertically straight, rising to its highest plane at the center on a rounded con= vex line and thence descending on each side to-a plane below that of the said border A, the front vertical edge of the seat being also centrally curved forwardly and thence retreating backwardly on ogee lines, convexly rounded at the front corners of the seat, and continuing backward on the lines of double 4o ogees along the exterior edges of said borders and the front portions of the sides of the chair-seat to the points a a, the inner edge of said border back of these points a, a
being substantially parallel with the corresponding portion of its outer edge, so that said border back of the described points is of a substantially fl shape, as shown in Fig. 1,
the side members of which flare slightly outwardly from rear to front.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure byLetters Patent, is-
The design for a chair-seat, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
WILLIAM BRAASCH;
Witnesses:
THos. MONEILL, CHAS. W. KNEEVERS.
