This invention relates to a new and useful design forarim and tire member for vehicles; and it has for its object to provide a design of this character which shall be both useful and ornamental.
The leading feature of the design resides in a semicircular body of an approximate T shape in cross-section and having an outer flat peripheral tire or tread portion and an inner web or rim portion, said web or rim portion being provided at regularly-spaced intervals with radially-disposed cylindrical socket-enlargements projecting at both sides of the web and extending from the inner side of the tire to the inner edge of the web and having circular holes therein, the body being further provided at the opposite extremities thereof with diametrically-alined inwardlyprojecting fiat bolt-ears having openings therein and adjacent to the inside faces of the ears, said body having its web cut away and provided with rentrant bolt-housing pockets.
Minor features of the design reside in the web or rim portion merging on curved lines into the tire or tread portion at the side edges of the latter, and the reentrant bolt-housing pockets being of an angular shape and having angled side walls at the opposite edges of the body.
In the drawings, Figure l' is a perspective View of a rim and tire member embodying the herein-described design. Fig. 2 is an inner plan View thereof. Fig. 3 is an outer plan view of the same. Fig. 4. is a cross-sectional View on the line 4 4 of Fig. 2.
Like numerals of reference designate corresponding parts in the several figures of the drawings.
Referring particularly to the drawings, the numeral 1 designates the rim and tire membet for vehicles, the same comprising the semicircular body of an approximate T shape in cross-section and having an outer flat peripheral tire or tread portion 2 and an inner web or rim portion 3 merging at its side faces on curved lines 4 into the tire or tread portion at the side edges of the latter. The Web or rim portion 3 is provided at regularlyspaced intervals with cylindrical socket-en'- largements 5. These socket enlargements project at both sides of the web and extend from the inner side of the tire or tread portion to the inner edge of the web and are provided therein with longitudinally-disposed circular holes 6. The body is further provided at the opposite extremities thereof with diametrically-alined inwardly-projecting fiat bolt-ears 7 of an approximate U shape in elevation and provided with openings 8 therein. Adjacent to the inside faces of said ears 7 the body has its web or rim portion cut away and provided with reentrant bolt-housing pockets 9, having angled side walls 10 at the side edges thereof.
