DESIGN FOR A VEHICLE-TIRE CHANNEL-RIM.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 33,616, dated November 27, 1900.
Application filed April 23, 1900 Serial No. 14,060. Term of patent 14 years- To a]! whom it may colwern:
Be it known that I, JOHN G. \VEBB, a citizen of the United States, residing at Springfield, in the county of Clark and State of Ohio, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Vehicle-Tire Channel-Rims, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
Figure I is a sectional view on the line saw of Fig. 2, and Fig. .2 a side elevation of my new design complete.
As shown in the drawings, the leading or material feature of mydesign consists in new and original outlines or configuration of a vehicle-tire channel-rim havingits base portion with its transverse upper and lower walls straight and the surface of its sides formed partly of curved lines and partly of inclined straight lines, while the inner surface of each of its sides is formed partly of straight lines converging toward each other from the upper transverse wall and also of curved lines turning outward, with which said straight lines join.
The letter A represents the base portion of my new design, said base having two parallel upper and lower surfaces B and C. At each side the surface C is joined by outwardlycurved lines D and E, respectively, such curved lines flowing into straight lines F and G, respectively, which extend upward and inward. At their upper ends these straight lines F and G are joined with curved lines II and I, which extend inward and downward and join with straight lines J and K, respectively, the latter lines extending downward, meeting the base-line B and forming an acute angle therewith.
It will be observed that the pairs of straight lines F J and G K con verge toward each other as they approach the free margins of the rimflanges, thereby giving to the said flanges a gradually-tapering effect and producing a light and graceful appearance, while the extended curves at the inner portions of the free margins of said flanges heighten this effect and are balanced by the corresponding curves at the base portions of the outer surfaces of said flanges, producing a harmonious whole.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a vehicle-tire channel-rim, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
JOHN G. WEBB.
