Description

DESIGN.
No. 35,269., Patented Nov. '5, l90l.
J. CHIDESTER. SINGLETBEE HOOK.
(Application filed June 27, 1901.)
' U avwkmloz W W UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JAMES OIIIDESTER, OF SIBLEY, IOWA, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO FREDERIO LUTHER LONG, OF SIBLEY, IOWA.
DESIGN FOR A SlNGLETREE-HOOK.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 35,269, dated November 5, 1901.
Application filed June 27, 1901. Serial No. 66,291. Term of patent 14 years.
To aZZ whom, it may concern:
Be itknown thatI, JAMES OHIDESTER, a citizen ot the United States, residing at Sibley, in the county of Osceola and State of Iowa, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Single'tree-Hooks; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part this specification.
Figure 1 is a plan view of a singletreehook, showing my new design. Fig. 2.is a side elevation of the same. Fig. 3 is a side elevation from the side opposite to that shown in Fig. 2. Fig. 4.- is an end elevation, and Fig. 5 is a fragmentary View looking at the hook end of the article when in the plane of the line 5 5 of Fig. 3.
As shown in the drawings, the leading or material features of my design consist of an opening 1, extending through the singletree end plate A, and a slot 2, extending from said opening to the periphery of said plate. The
Wall 3 of said slot is carried by the portion ct of the said end plate, while the slot-wall 4 is upon the body portion of said plate. Said walls 3 and 4 have their faces in planes at such an angle that the slot extends obliquely across the edge of the said plate, as shown in Fig. 3, and, as shown most clearly in Fig. 5-, these walls are a greater distance apart at the circumference of the opening 1 than at the periphery of the said end plate, whereby the slot 2 is made tapering.
The hook portion of the article is provided with the usual socket portion for attaching it to the singletree. Such asocket is shown in Figs. 1 toet of the drawings.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire tosecure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a singletree-hook, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
JAMES OHIDESTER.
Witnesses A. W. LONG,
R. E. COLBURN.
