UNITED STATES PATENT @FFICE.
DAVID ROSE, OF LANCASTER, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR A CANE OR UMBRELLA RING.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 34,705, dated July 2, 1901.
Application filed June 5, 1901. Serial No. 63,318. Term of patent '7 yearsv T0 aZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that 1, DAVID Rose, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lancaster, in the county of Lancaster and State of Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Cane orUmbrella Ring; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
The subject-matter of the present in vention is a band .of the kind usually employed by making or covering the joint between an umbrella or cane handle and the stick or rod to which the handle is attached.
The design isillustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective View of a ring formed in accordance with my invention, and Fig. 2 is a side elevation thereof.
In the drawings, A represents the body or main portion of the ring the upper edge of which is formed with the high curved upper portion a, the downward-extending parts a on each side thereof, and the curved part at opposite that designated by the letter a. Be-
neath the curved portion a of the ring is formed the head, neck, and antlers of an elk. The neck B extends upward and away from the main portion A at an angle, and the head b is approximately on a line parallel to the lower edge of the main portion A. The antlers C 0, having the prongs c, extend upward from the head 19 and inward toward the curved portion of the main part A. The ends a of the antlers are curved and extend toward each other, there being a small space between their respective ends. These ends 0 both rest upon the upper curved portion a, and their general contour conforms to that of the upper face of this portion.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- The design for a cane or umbrella ring, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
DAVID ROSE; Witnesses:
DAVID BAIR, JOHN H. MYERS.
