DESIGN.
No. 34,653. Patented June ll, I901.
s. GRIFFITHS. SHOE LACE FASTENER.
(Application filed Mar. 1, 1901.)
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
SAMUEL GRIFFITHS, OF ARMOURDALE, KANSAS, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO FRANK JONES, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A SHOE-LACE FASTENER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 34,653, dated June 11, 1901;
Application filed March 1, 1901. Serial No. 49,513- Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, SAMUEL GRIFFITHS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Armourdale, in the county of Wyandotte and State of Kansas, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Shoe-Lace Fastener, of which the following is a specification.
Myinvention relates to shoe-lace fasteners; and my object is to'produce a new and original design for the same which is both useful and ornamental.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents a perspective View of a shoe-lace fastener embodying my design. Fig. 2 is a topview of the same. Fig. 3 is a horizontal section of the same. Fig. 4 is an end view of the same.
The leading or material feature of the design consists in a pair of parallel arms of unequal length and connected together at one end by a bent portion, the short arm having a transverse hole or passage near its free end and the long arm a similar hole or passage about midway its length and in alinement with the hole or passage of the short arm, said long arm also having an arm projecting from its rear side.
Minor features of the design reside in the enlarged rounded or spherical head at the free end and front side of the short arm, through which head or enlargement the hole of the short arm diametrically extends; also, in the cylindrical and tubular formation of the rearwardly-projecting arm of the long arm, and in the series of longitudinal slits or incisions in the rear end of said tubular arm.
Referring to the drawings in detail, 1 designates the long arm of the fastener.
2 designates the short arm.
3 designates the bent portion connecting the arms at one end.
4 designates the enlarged or spherical head at the free end of the short arm. 5 designates the hole or passage extending diametrically through said head or enlargement and the short arm.
6 designates the rearwardly-projecting tubular arm of the long arm 1. 7 designates the slits or incisions of said tubular arm.
8 designates the transverse hole or passage of the long arm, the same being in longitudi nal alinement with the hole or passage 5.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim as new is- The design for a shoe-lace fastener, sub stantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
SAMUEL GRIFFITHS.
