UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
EDWARD BEACH GALLAHER, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR A VEHICLE-BODY.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 34,549, dated. may 21, 1901.
Application filed April 13,1901. Serial No- 55,797- Term of patent '7 years.
To aZZ whmn it may concern.-
Be it known that I, EDWARD BEACH GAL- LAHER, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and useful original Design for a Vehicle-Body, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.
Figure l is a side view of a vehicle-body. Fig. 2 is a rear view of the same. Fig. 3 is a transverse vertical section taken in the plane of the line 3 3 of Fig. 1, and Fig. 4 is a transverse vertical section taken in the plane of the line 4 at of Fig. 1.
As shown in the drawings, the leading or material feature of my design is the configuration of the profile of a vehicle-body when viewed in side elevation, as shown in Fig. 1, and the configuration of the arms and back of the seat, as shown in the several figures.
When viewed in side elevation, the profile of the vehicle-body has its bottom straight and the lower part of its back flat, as shown at a, and curved inwardly, as shown at b, from the fiat portion a to the seat and has its front below the seat curved inwardly, as
shown at c, from the seat to the upper edges of the sides of the foot-board d. The sides have panels 6, the edges of which conform to the flat bottom, the flat seat, and the inwardlycurved portions 1) and 0. Along the sides and back of the seat is a beaded moldingf, and along the curved front a is a beaded molding 9, which also extends along the upper edges of the foot-board d.
The arms and back of the seat consist of a continuous spindled railing h, which is curved around the rear corners of the seat, and the back of the said railing is surmounted by a back-rest 2' of corresponding curvature.
An inwardly-curved dashboard j uprises from the front end of the foot-board d.
What I claim is- The design for a vehicle-body, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name, in presence of two witnesses, this 8th day of April, 1901.
EDWARD BEACH GALLAHER.
