UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
SCOTT A. WHITE, OF I ITTSBURG, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR A TILE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 33,981, dated January 29, 1901.
Application filed January 5, 1901. serial No. 42.248- Term of patent 11 years.
To ctZZ whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, SCOTT A.WHITE, a citi- Zen of the United States, residing at Pittsburg, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Tile; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
The essential feature of my design consists in a tile which is bent longitudinally to form two surfaces at an angle to each other, one of such surfaces being of substantially equal width throughout its length, while the other surface tapers or gradually decreases in width for nearlyits entire length, the remaining portion being of substantially equal width with the narrowest end of the tapered portion. The outer side edge of the tapered surface is shorter than the outer side edge of the other surface, and the wide end of the tapered surface inclines from the perpendicular with respect to the other surface. The wide end of the tapered surface merges into the adjacent end of the other surface on a curved line.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of the tile, and Fig. 2 is a transverse section taken on the line 2 2 of Fig. 1.
The tile is denoted as a whole by A, and it is bent longitudinally to form two surfaces (0 and b at an angle to each other. The surface a is of substantially equal width throughout its length, while the surface I) is tapered or gradually decreases in width for nearly its entire length-as, for instance, to the point 0 and from the point 0 to the end d its widih is substantially uniform. e of the tapered surface I) is shorter than the outer side edge f of the surface a, and the end edge g'of the surface b inclines from the perpendicular with respect to the surface Ct. The end edge g of the surface I) merges into the end edge h of a section a on a curved line, as indicated at 1'.
What I claim is The design for a tile substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name, in the presence of two witnesses, this 2d day of January, 1901.
SCOTT A. WHITE.
