DESIGN FOR A BOX-BLANK.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 33,774, dated December 25, 1900.

Application filed June 12, 1900. Serial No. 20,082. Term of patent 14 years.

Be it known that I, HARRY B. SMITH, a citizen of the United States,residing at New York, (Brooklyn,) Kings county, State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for B0x-Blanks, of which the following is a specification.

My in vention consists in a new and original .esign for box-blanks, and is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure lis a plan view of a box-blank made according to my design. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view taken on the line a: a: of Fig. 1.

The leading feature of my design consists in a blank or body portion made substantially rectangular in plan view with each corner thereof cut away on a single curved line, said blank being provided with wings at each side and at each end, the maximum length of said side and end wings being slightly less than the maximn m length and width, respectively, of the body portion of the blank.

Referring to the drawings, the referencenumeral 1 designates the body of the blank, which is made substantially rectangular in shape and having rounded corners 2, that are formed by cutting away each corner on a single curved line. The body of the blank is provided at each end with integral wings 13,

substantially oblong in shape, and the two sides of the body are provided with similar oblong wings at. As shown in the drawings, the said side and end wings 3 and 4 are made integral with the body 1, but at the lines of connection between the said body and wings the blank is slightly out or scored, as shown at5 and 6. The wings 3 and 4 are of substantially the same width, and in length they are slightly shorter than the sides and ends, respectively, of the body portion of the blank between the lines of scoring, as shown, so that the lower or inner corners 7 of the said wings are separated or removed from each other. The opposite ends 8 and 9 of the side and end wings terminate in straight lines taken substantially parallel with the seorings 5 and 6, respectively, so as to form substantially angular openings at the fun r corners of the blank.
