plcation led Nov. 1l. 1899 s HARRY B. SMITH, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
DESlGN FOR A BOX-BLANK.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 31,984,
dated December 12, 1899.
Application filed November 11,1899. Serial No. 736,701. Term oipatent 14 years.
.To all whom, it may concern.-
Beit known that I, HARRY B. SMITH, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, (Brooklym) in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Box-Blanks; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying specification and drawings, forming a part thereof.
My invention consists in a new and original design for box-blanks and is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a. top plan View of a box-blank made according to my design. Fig. 2 is a central longitudinal sectional view.
The leading feature of my design consists of aV blank or body portion made substantially rectangular in plan view with rounded or heart-shaped corners, said blank being provided with Wings at each side and at each end.
Referring to the drawings, the referencenumeral l designates the body of the blank, which is made substantially rectangular in shape and having rounded or heart-shaped corners 2. The body of the blank is provided at each end with integral wings 3, and the two sides of the body are each provided with similar integral wings 4. As shown in the drawings, the said side and end Wings 3 and lare made integral with the body 1; butat the lines of connection between the said bodyand wings the blank is slightly out or scored, as shown at 5 and t'. The wings 3 and 4 are of substantially the same Width; but in length they are slightly shorter than the sides and. ends, respectively, of the body portion of the blank, as shown, so that the adjacent inner corners 7 ot the said wings are separated or removed from each other. The opposite ends S and 9 of the side and end Wings terminate in straight lines 4raken substantially parallel with the seorings 5 and 6, respectively, so as to form substantially angular openings at the four corners of the blank.
What I claim is- The design for a boxblank substantiallyas shown and described.
In testimony whereof I ax my signature in presence of two witnesses.
HARRY B. SMITH. Witnesses:
