UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
THE JAMES E. BLAKE COMPANY,
OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A HANDLE FOR BUTTON-HOOKS R SIMILAR ARTICLES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 33,068, dated August 14, 1900.
Application filed July 9, 1900. Serial No. 23,053. Term of patent 3% years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM H. SAART, a citizen of the United States, residing at Attleborough, in the county of Bristol and State 5 of Massachusetts, have invented and produced a new and original Design for the Handle of a Button-Hook or Similar Article, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.
Figure l is aside view of my newly-designed handle, showing the same attached to a bu tton-hook. Fig. 2 is a transverse sectional view of the handle on line X X of Fig. 1.
As shown in the drawings, the leading or material feature of my design consists in the bulbous form of the handle, each bulb being ornamented with broad-leaved ornamentations and the upper bulb with broad leaves extending from a central beaded channel. From the end of thehandle where it is secured to the article extend on each side of the handle two foliated scrolls, curving at their upper ends and one of the scrolls overlying the other. A line of graduated beads extends between the two scrolls. From the upper ends of these foliated scrolls a bulb of ovoid outline extends, having two curved marginal lines of graduated beads extending from a central bulbous ornament. From the inner sides of the marginal lines of beads extend broad-leaved foliations over a portion of the central convex panel. The bulbous central ornament forms the pendant to a string of graduated beads extending lengthwise through a depressed channel in the upper ovoid bulb. Broad-leaved foliations extend from the outer margins of this upper bulb partially over the two oblong convex panels divided by the central string of beads, from which also broad-leaved foliations extend over parts of the oblong panels. The marginal foliations extend to scrolls surmounted with a crest supported by the marginal scrolls and terminating in a central floral ornament.
Having thusdescrrbed my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for the handle of a button-hook or similar article herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
WILLIAM II. SAAR'I. Witnesses:
J. A. MILLER, J r., A. E. IIAGERTY.
