To all whom, it may concern: I

Be it known that I, ESSINGTON N; GILFIL- LAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented and produced a certain new and original Design for a Pen or Pencil Holder, of which the following, in connectionwith the accompanying drawings, is a full, clear, and exact specification.

In the said drawings, Figure 1 is a side elevation of a pen or pencil holder embodying my design. Fig. 2 is an end view thereof looking into the larger end, and Fig. 3 is a similar View looking into the smaller end.

The leading features of my design consist of a pen or pencil holder having the slot 13 extending longitudinally of one end thereof, the cross or transverse lines 0 D J extending from said slot and the parallel lines H crossing said transverse lines parallel with the slot. One end of the holder is cylindrical and of smaller diameter than the portion A, as shown at E, and it meets with the enlargement A through a rounded shoulder F. The enlargement A is also cylindrical and open at the larger end, as shown in Fig. 2, said end being beveled around the edge, as shown at a, and the slot B extends lengthwise of the enlargement A and terminates at a distance from each end thereof. At one end of the slot 13 are formed two parallel lines G, between which extend four parallel lines H, arranged at right angles to the lines G, and two of these lines H on each side of the slot B are continued lengthwise of the portion A and parallel vith the slot B and terminate at a cross-line I, extending at right angles to the lower end of the slot 13. One of the said extended lines H is crossed at short intervals by the lines 0, extending from the slot B to the outside one of the extendedlines H, and another one of the extended lines H immediately on the opposite side of the slot B is crossed by the lines D, which extend from the slot B to the other outside one of the lines H, and intermediate the cross-lines D are shorter cross-lines J.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new therein, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is'- The design for a pen or pencil holder substantially as herein shown and described.
