DESIGN FOR A RAILWAY-RAIL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 32,406, dated March 27', 1900.
Application filed July 27, 1899. Serial No, 725,328. Term of patent14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SCHUYLER HAZARD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cincinnati, county of Hamilton, State of Ohio, have invented and produced a new and useful Design for a Railway-RaiL of which the following, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, is a full and exact description.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a portion of a railway-rail embodying my design, and Fig. 2 is a transverse section of said railwayrail shown in Fig. 1.
The form or con figuration embodying my design comprises the base-flanges n a, united with the vertical web I), terminating above in the head 1, which has a plain upper surface or wheel-tread c, the vertical side of the web Z) (marked 1) being shorter than its opposite side (marked 2) and the head n being of greater depth on one side of the web, as at 3, than it is on the other side, (marked 4,) the head on the side marked 3 also projecting farther from the central line of the web I) than does the opposite side, (marked 4.)
The leading and material features of the design are the unequal sides of the vertical web (marked b) taken in conjunction with the unequal lateral projection or eccentricity oi the head, (marked c.)
WVhat I claim is-- The design for a railway-rail herein shown and described.
