DESIGN FOR A BUTT-HINGE.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 29,381, dated September 20, 1898.

Application filed January 14, 1898- Serial No. 666 7l2. Term of patent 14 years.

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that LWILLIAM H. ANDERSON, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of New York, (Brooklyn,) in thecounty of Kings and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Butt-11in ges, of which the following is aspecification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof, in which an elevation of the butt of the hinge is shown, illustrating the new design.

Figure l of the drawings hereof illustrates a plan view of the design. Fig. 2 illustrates a cross-sectional view thereof.

As shown in the drawings, the leading or material feature of my design consists in the plates at a of the butt or hinge, having the outline of a succession of segments of circles, as shown at b b, all of the same radius, but

the several segments being located at difierent distances from the back of the hinge, whereby its leaves or plates are given an irregular curvilinear exterior outline somewhat resembling the well-known rococo design now frequently used in furniture and other connections. The faces of the leaves of the butt or hinge have a flat plain surface, there being also a semieylindrical rib or portion a, raised above the plane of the leaves and midway between their irregular curvilinear margins.

Having described my invention, I claim- The design for a butt-hinge as herein described and shown.
