GUSIAV STROIIIIAKER, OF \VALLINGFORD, CONNECTICUT, ASSIGNOR TO THE \VATROUS MANUFACTURING COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A HANDLE FOR SPOONS, FORKS, 80C.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 28,923, dated June 28, 1898.
Application filed May 23,1898. Serial No- 681,512. Term of patent '7 years.

Be it known that I, GUSTAV STROHHAKER, f Vallingford, in the county of New Haven nd State of Connecticut, have invented a new esign for a Handle for Spoons, Forks, &c.; nd I do hereby declare the following, when when in connection with the accompanying rawingand the letters of reference marked lereon, to be a full, clear, and exact descrip- .on of the same, and which said drawing conbitutes part of this specification and repreants a face viewof a spoon-handle embodying 1y design.
This invention relates to a design fora hanle for spoons, forks, andlike articles of tablearvice; and thedesign consists in the conguration and ornamentation as hereinafter escribed, and shown in the accompanying lustration.
The handle gradually expands from its )wer end upward to a point about half-way 1e length of the handle, where it expands, 1en slightly contracts, and then again exands to form the upper end or tip of the andle.
Starting from a point near the lower end of the handle, a groove A is formed upon each side of the handle, which follows the contour of the handle and gradually expands in width until it reaches the first expansion of the handle, where it merges into foliated scrolls B, from which spring incurving scrolls C, which are in turn surmounted by and merge into an elaborate scroll ornamentation surmounted by a shell D, which forms the tip E of the handle. Within this scroll ornamentation a plain panel F extends throughout the length of the handle, all as shown in the accompanying illustration.
I claim- The design for a handle for spoons, forks or similar articles as herein shown and described.
