Description

UNITED STATES VILLIAM I. MCDONALD,
PATENT OFFICE.
OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
DESIGN FOR AN lNSULATOR-PLATE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 28,743, dated May 31, 1898.
Application tiled Desember 18, 1896. Serial No. 616,199. Term of patent 7 years.
l'o (MZ whom, it may concern:
Be itknown that LWILLIAM B. MCDONALD, acitizenof the United States, anda resident of Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Insulator-Plates for Arc-Lights, of which the followingr is a full, clear, and exact specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
The leading feature of my design consists of a truncated triangular-shaped glass plate having insulators made integrant with the corners thereof, substantially as hereinafter fully described and as illustrated in the drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective View of an insulator-plate for are-lights, showing my design. Fig. 2 is a plan view of said plate, looking at the under side thereof; and Fig. 3 is a longitudinal vertical section of the saine, taken on dotted line 3 3, Fig. 2.
Referring to the drawings, A represents a plate whose edges describe an isosceles triangle, the sides of which are of greater length than the base. The angles of this plate are truncated. The truncated edges at the end of the hase edge are at an angle of forty-five degrees thereto, whereas the truncated edge connecting the two side edges are on a plane parallel to that of the base edge.
Projecting downward from each corner near each end of the base edge of the plate A is an insulator I3 B, and at the angle made by the meeting of the two side edges is an insulator C.
In the center of plate A is a suitable boltopening (Z2, and in addition to this opening there are shown three openings 1, 2, and 3. One of these three last-mentioned openings is located between the insulator C and the opening d?, and one of said threeopenings is located near each insulator B next the edge farthest from the base edge of the plate.
Vhat I claim as new is- The design for an insulator-plate for electric lamps as herein shown and described.
VILLIAM B. MCDONALD.
