ROBERT SCI-IAEZLEIN, OF SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA.
DESIGN FOR A SPOON.
SYECIFICATION forming' part of Design No. 27,882, dated November 23, 1897.
Application filed September 17l 1897. Serial No. 652,077. Term of patent Si years.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, ROBERT SCHAEZLEIN, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city and county of San Francisco, State of California, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Spoons, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, showing a part thereof.
The drawing is a plan view of the spoon showing my design.
The leading or material feature of my design consists of the representation of an angel a at the end of the handle, havingahalo about the head and wings projecting from the shoulders, the wings b being curved so that the upper ends approach the sides of the head and unite with the halo and are drawn inwardly below the figure, so that the outline of the wings forms the convex curvature of the handle of the article. Between the points or extremities of the wings the shank c is narrowed down and its edges are curved. In
the space between these edges is a representation of oranges and orange-leaves and just below the figure is a scroll d, which offers space for any suitable words.
Within the bowl e of the spoon is a representation of an orange-branch having leaves and oranges thereon and occupying the major portion of the bowl.
The designs mentioned are engraved, chased, stamped, or otherwise formed in or on the handle and bowl, and the said designs are applicable to forks, spoons, and similar articles of tableware.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is- The design for a spoon substantially as herein shown and described.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand.
ROBERT SCHAEZLEIN. Witnesses:
H. J. BRAND, B. W. BURRIDGE.
