DESIGN FOR A MATCH-SAFE.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 26,703, dated March 2, 1897.

Be it known that I, NICHOLAS AL'rMYEn, a citizen of the United States, residing at (loggon, in the county of Linn and State of Iowa,

' have invented a newand original Design for Match-Safes, of which the following is aspecification.

This invention relates to a new and original design for match-safes; and it has for its object to provide a design of this charaeterthat shall be both useful and ornan'iental.

The leading feature of the design resides in a frusto-pyramidal base having a flat lower side, triangular end faces, and wide quadrangular side faces, the top edge of the base being the common upper side of said quadrangular faces, a horizontally-arranged oblong approximately rectangular body of a diamond shape in cross-section and disposed cornerwise to the base, with its lower corner or angle lying in a plane above and parallel with the top edge of the base, said body being formed at one side of its upper corner or angle with a longitudinal rectz'tngular opening and a vertically-disposed rectangular web portion lying in the space between the base and the body.

In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a match-sate embodying the hereindescribed design. Fig. 2 isa side view thereof.

Referring to the accompanying drawings, the numeral designates a frusto-pyramidal base having a [lat lower side i, triangular end faces 53, and wide quadrangular side faces 4, the top edge 5 of the base being the common upper side of said quadrangular faces. In connection with the base there is arranged horizontallyabove the same an approximately rectangular body 3 of a diamond shape in cross-section and disposed eornerwise to the base, with its lower corner or angle lying in a plane above and parallel with the top edge of the base, said body 6 being formed at one side of its upper corner or angle with :1 iongitudinal rectangular opening 7. A verticallydisposed rectangular web portion 8 lies in the space between the top edgeof the base and body and is formed with a pair of invertedheart-shaped figures 9, arranged side by side.
