DESIGN FOR SIDVE FRAME FOR CARTRUCKS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 26,40*?, dated December 15, 1896.
Application iiled November 3, 1896. Serial No. 610,989. Term of patent 14 years.
o all whom t may concern.-
lle it known that I, JOHN A. BRILL, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Side Frame for Car-Trucks, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a design for a side frame for a car-truck, and said invention consists in the configuration of the frame, substantially as hereinafter described and shown.
Reference is had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in-
Figure 1 is a plan View, Fig. 2, a side ele- Vation; Fig. 3, an end elevation; Fig. 4, a sectional elevation on the line A 13, Fig. 2.
At l are the yokes, comprising the side pieces 2 and 3, bottom piece 4, and top piece 5, the side pieces 2 3 being parallel and perpendicularly disposed and the top and bottom being likewise parallel and horizontally disposed. The side piece 3 is united to the top and bot'- tom pieces 4 5 by rounded lugs 6, which form a bifurcation into which a lug7 on the top piece 5 extends, and through the lug and bifurcation extends a bolt 8. The arms 2 3 are recessed on the inside, as shown in dotted tend in opposite directions from'the walls 1l to the yokes 1 and merge therein, as shown in Fig. 1, the central portions of the top and bottom webs 12 13 and the walls 11 forming a rectangular pocket or recess 14.
' The intermediate portion of the frame is.
extended above the top web 12 to form a rib 15, which lies in the same plane as thebar 10 and extends over the top of the intermediate portion and the top pieces 5 of the yokes. The outer arms 3 of the yokes are provided with a like and outwardly-extending rib 16, staggered in relation to the rib l5, and in the same plane a rib 17 is formed on the piece 4, which merges into the bar 10, as at'lS. -The forward end of the piece 4 of the yokes is provided with lugs 19, forming a bifurcation, and the lower portion ofthe .piece 3 has a lug 20 extending into said bifurcation.
It will be noticed by reference to Figs. 1
wardly from the vertical plane of the intermediate bar 10 of the frame on the outside, or that opposite the pocket 14.
- Under the top portion of the yokes are circular ca 'ps 21, which depend outwardly from the upper portion of the yokes and down Wardly into the space between the arms 2 3 ofthe yokes.
Having described my invention, I claim- The design for a side frame for car-trucks substantially as herein shown and described.
Signed at the city of New York, county of New York, and State of New York, thislth day of October, 1896.
