Description

DESIGN.
H. E. WETHERBEE. 0
BACK BAND HOOK.
No. 26,173, I v Patented Oct. 13,1896.
INVENTOR UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HIRAM E. IVETIIERBEE, OF GREENVILLE, MISSISSIPPI, ASSIGNOR OF ONE- IIALF TO LOUI HART, OF CINCINNATI, OI-IIO.
DESIGNFOR A BACK-BAND HOOK.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No'. 26,173, dated October 13, 1896.
Application filed August 26, 1896. Serial No. 604,032. Term of patent 14 years.
To (6 whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HIRAM E. WETHERBEE, of Greenville, in the county of Vashington and State of Mississippi, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Back-Ban (1 Hook, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
Figure 1 is a front View of a back-band hook embodying my new design; Fig. 2, a central transverse section, and Fig. 3 a side edge view.
In its entirety the design presents a substantially fiat plate having straight side edges and end edges that present each a central concavity and projections at the sides of such concavity, the projections curving slightly away from the general plane of the plate and each presenting at its edges a plurality of convexities of less radii than the curve of the central concavity.
In the plate appear near each edge a plurality of elongated parallel openings with a series of approximately perpendicular serrations along one edge of one of the openings near each edge, and, further, there appears about centrally of the plate a broad hook-like I formation, which is surrounded by an opening and arches out of the plane of the plate, curving in a general direction transversely of the plate its free end returning toward the plate and its extreme terminal being returnbent and extending into the opening to lie approximately in the plane of the plate.
The leading feature of my design consists in the plate having a plurality of elongated parallel openings lengthwise of the plate and a hook-like formation surrounded by an opening and ranging transversely of the plate, said hook-like member further arching first away from the plane of the plate, then toward the latter, the terminal of the said hook-like formation being return-bent and extending into the opening.
I claim 7 The design for a back-band hook herein shown and described.
HIRAM E. IVETHERBEE. Witnesses:
JAS. E. Nneos, F. W. MCCOY.
