ALPHONSINE JOSEPHINE CLAVELOUX, OF SAN. FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA.
DESIGN FOR A CORSET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 26,044, dated September 15, 1896.
A li ti fli d November 20, 1895. Serial No. 569,584. Term of patent 14 years.
I 0 all whom it may concern..-
Be it known that I, ALPHOXSINE JOSEPHINE CLAVELOUX, a. citizen of the United States, residing at San Francisco, in the county of San Francisco and State of California, have invented and produced a new, useful, and original Design for Corsets, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part thereof.
My invention relates to designs for corsets; and it consists in the shape and configuration which will be more fully described hereinafter.
The accompanying drawing represents a plan view of a half of a corset which embodies my invention.
The leading or characteristic feature of my design consists of the outline configuration thereof, comprising the inwardly-curved rear edges, the upper edge rising at a sharp angle from the top of the rear opening of the corset to the straight under-ar1n portion of the upper edge, which, at a point directly forward of the armpit portion, sharply falls to a point below the wearers breast, and thence continues in a substantially straight line to the top of the frontopcning, substantially as shown.
A represents one-half of a corset which has its rear edge B curved inwardlyandprovided with a series of lacing-holes C. The top rear edge or corner D of each half of the corset where it fits in between the shoulderblades is rounded or cut away, and from this rounded or cut-away portion the edge F extends on a substantially straight line to a point G in front of the armpit-s, and from this point the edge at II is cut away, so as to make an abrupt descent to the point I to one side of the breast. From the pointI the top edge forms substantially a straight line, as shown at P, where it extends across under the A. JOSEPHINE CLAVELOUX.
