DESIGN.
D. 0. WHEELER. SCISSORS 0R snmns.
Patented Aug. 20, 1895.
INVENTOR UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
DAVID C. WHEELER, OF BRIDGEPORT, CONNECTICUT, ASSIGNOR TO THE ACME SHEAR COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
- DESIGN FOR SCISSORS OR SHEARS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 24,575, dated August 20, 1895.
Application filed May 21, 1895. Serial No. 550,142. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, DAVID 0. WHEELER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bridgeport, in the county of Fairfield and State of Connecticut, have invented and produced a new and originalDesign for Handles for Scissors or Shears; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof, in which- Figure 1 is an elevation of a pair of shears, illustrating my novel design; Fig. 2, an edge view thereof;and Fig. 3 is a section on the :5 line acacia Fig. 1.
The leading feature of my design is the novel and peculiar configuration of the handles of the scissors or shears.
By reference to the drawings it will be 20 seen that the handles a, which are provided with the usual thumb and finger holes I), are of such transverse contour, as shown in edge view in Fig. 2 and in section in Fig. 3, that the two opposite sides of the handles present exactly the same appearance, this being due to the fact that the surfaces (1 at any parts of the handles are at all points curved similarly at opposite sides of the handles, so that the latter are of the same configuration on both sides throughout their extent.
I claim- The design for scissors and shears substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
DAVID 0. WHEELER. Witnesses:
A. M. WOOSTER, S. V. RICHARDSON.
