INV NTORI mwpg ITNESSES: a
, By J M W717 flttvrney,
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FREDERICK J. KALDENBERG, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
DESIGN FOR A KNIFE-HANDLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 21,693, dated July 5, 1892. Application filed October 5, 1891- Serial No. 407,791. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FREDERICK J. KALDEN- BERG, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented and produced a certain new and original Design for Handles, &c., of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a side or face view of the handle, showing my design. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the handle. Fig. 3 is an end view, and Fig. 4: is an edge view, of the same.
a represents the body of the handle, which when seen in side elevation, Fig. 1,and edge elevation, Fig. 2, shows a rounded contour at its butt a When seen in end elevation, Fig. 3, the handle has an oblong contour, the sides being convex. The handle is formed of materials which present different appearances to the eye. On the respective convex sides are panels I) b and on the respective convex edges are panels 0 0. These panels are of materials having the same appearance to the eye. These panels have the same general contour as the respective sides and edges in which they are placed, but are of less dimensions than said sides and edges. The adjacent panels I) and c are separated by hands a, situated at the angles of the handle and extending longitudinally of same and merging into the convex butt a. At the end 01. of the handle are hands a, which extend across the ends of the respective panels 0 and from one corner-band or to'that at the opposite side of said panel. The butt a and bands a and a are of material presenting the same appearance to the eye, but contrasting in appearance with the material of the panels I; and c. The panels 0 are shorter than the panels b, and the panels all have a rounded contour at one end and a square contour at the opposite end.
Having thus described my new design, I claim- The design fora knife-handle herein shown and described, the same consisting of the body at, having two rounded sides, two rounded edges, four rounded corners, and a convex butt and having panels I) in the sides and panels 0 in the edges, the said panels being separated by bands of material contrasting in appearance with the panels and the latter having a rounded contour at one extremity and a square contour at the opposite extremity, as set forth.
In witness whereof I have hereunto signed my name in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
FREDERICK J. KALDENBERG.
