SPECIFICATION formingpart of Design No. 24,198, dated April 16, 1895.
Application iiierl Novcmher 17, 1894. Serial No. 529,189. Term ofpatent 7 years.
To aZZ whom it 11mg con/corn.-
Be it known that I, CHARLES J. AIIREN- FELDT, a citizen of the United States, residing in the eityof New York, county and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Cup, of which the following is a specification.
The accompanying drawing represents a cup embodying my design and consists of one figure which is a perspective View of said cup with the ornamentation displayed upon it in relief, and showing the trefoil shape of the cup at the top.
The essential feature of my design consists of a cup provided with a combination arabesque and escaloped ornamentation as shown in the accompanying drawing.
In the figure, A is the esealoped ornamentation, I3 is the arabesque ornamentation, C
is the lip of the cup, I) D D are the greater segmental lines or identations, and E is the handle.
The esealoped ornamentation A has a double edge which extends in a wave line around the perimeter of the cut an equal distance from the lip. It is segmented by the greater indentations which extend over the entire cup at equal distances around its eic cmnlerence, and, by lesser segmental lines D, D which are gradually merged in the surface of the cup near the bottom. The lines running from the edge of the ornament toward the bottom of the cup are convergent. The arabesque ornamentation B is situated between the escalop and the edge or lip of the cup, and is scroll-like in form. It is slightly scalloped on one side near the lip of the cup, and terminates in tendril-like ends near the edge of the lower escalop. The cup is pro vided with one of these ornamentations for each of the three segments into which it is divided by the indentations D D D.
The handle E is provided with a composite arahesqne and escaloped ornamentation similar to the one on the side of the cup and its lower end is twisted laterally where it joins the-cup.
What I claim is- The design for a cup substantially as herein shown and described.
CHARLES J. AIIRENFELDT.
