DESIGN FOR A CLOCK-CASE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 22,126, dated January 10, 1893.
Application filed November 14, 1892- Serial No. 452,004. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ARTHUR 0. JENNINGS, of Southport, in the county of Fairfield and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Design for a Clock-Case; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawing constitutes part of this specification, and represents a view in front elevation of a clock-case containing my de- Slgll.
This invention relates to a design for the cases of mantel, or shelf clocks, and consists in the clock case shown in the accompanying illustration.
The case containing my design has an oval sash A applied to its face-board B. The toppiece C, of the case is composed of arose-like center, and two horizontally projecting leaves or wings, having straight lower edges, curved and tooth ed ends, and convexly curved upper edges, which merge into the lower edges of the rose-like center aforesaid. An oblong ornament D, is vertically arranged in the center of the said top-piece, and projects a little below the lower edge thereof. Two leaf-like ornaments E, are applied to the face-board B, their inner edges being concaved and notched, and their upper edgesbeing son are, and j oiningthe straight lower edges of the leaves or wings of the top-piece before described. A base-piece F, applied to the lower end of the face-board, is composed of a curved central portion, having its lower edge notched, and of heavy feet, the upper portions of which are scroll-like, and support long tapering leaf-like ornaments G G, applied to the face-board, and having their inner edges curved and notched. The inner edges of the said top and bottom pieces and ornaments are curved in conformity with the contour of the oval sash, and are applied to the face-board so that there is apparently an oval band formed around the sash. All of the said parts, moreover, are carved and engraved.
I claim.
The design for a clock-case as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have signed this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
ARTHUR 0. JENNINGS.
