SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 22,141, dated January 1'7, 1893. Application filed October 3, 1892. Serial No. 447,719. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern,.-
Be it known that I, WILLIAM TWEEDDALE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a Design for Drinking-Fountains, of which the following is a specification.
The leading feature of the design for a drinking fountain consists in the design of the shape and configuration of thebase bowl and cover and in said design the design of the surface ornamentation that conforms to .said shape and especially to the design of the shape and surface ornamentation ofthe cover.
In the drawings, Figure l shows the ornamental shape and configuration of the drinking fountaincomplete. Eig. 2 represents the design of the base or pedestal. Fig. 3 represents the design of the bowl, and Figs. 4 and 5 represent side and rear elevations of the design of the cover, the design of the front or face of the cover being shown in Fig. 1.
The base a is cylindrical in shape with ogee molding c, eoves and beads d and ornamented surfaces b between the base ct and the round column e. The bowl ares upwardly and outwardly, the elevation in outline being generally a compound curve, and the upper edge is ribbed or molded peripherally as at l and cen# trally ribbed at t'. The general shape of the cover is hemispherioal, with an opening atone side. The surface ornamentation consists of the scrollv and oval ornaments at b, around the base, the multifoil ornamentsf, on the column e, the radial recesses and ribs h, in the surfaces g, of the lower convex portion of the bowl and above the peripheral moldings e', and the diverging leaf ornaments k form a range around the flaring portion of the bowl. The cover resembles a helmet in its general appearance with a molded arch m around the opening, converging molded bands n, and a tinial 0. The central face ornament t is surrounded with scroll and diverging leaflet ornaments tt harmonizing with the leaflet ornaments Zo and with the scroll and leaflet ornaments rand s, in the respective panels, and the multifoil ornament I; is at the top of the cover.
The design is highly ornamental and artistic.
l. The design of the shape of the drinking fountain, substantially as shown and described.
2. In the design of the shape of the drinking fountain substantially as shown and described, the design of the surface ornamentation substantially as set forth.
3. In the design of the drinking fountain, the design of the shape of the cover and the surface ornamentation of the same, substantially as described.
Signed by me this 30th day of September, 1892.
WILLIAM TWEEDDALE.
