DESIGN FOR A FIREPLACE-FRONT.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 21,725, dated July 19, 1892.

Be it known that I, ROBERT M. llOVEY, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county and State of New York,

have invented and produced a new and original Design for Fireplace Faeings and Grates, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact specification, reference being had to the accom panyingdrawin gs, forming partthereof.

IO Figurcl represents a front elevation of this newly-designed facing and grate. Fig. 2 represents a transverse vertical section of the same, and Fig. 3 is a horizontal section taken at line A B of Fig. l.

The prominentor characteristic features of this novel design comprise representations of projecting molded corn ice with dentals, a central Adams fan or sunburst, acanthus-leaves, paneled frieze and pilasters, and

tapering half-columns with corniccs and globular finials or heads in front of the projecting lower half of the side facings or pilasters. The molded denticulated projecting cornice O rests upon the frieze D, which is bordered with beaded moldings and at its center is ornamented with the Colonial sunburst F and with acanthus-leavesE atits ends. The upper portion of the two panels G of the pilasters are likewise bordered with beaded 3o moldings, and at their union with the frieze terminate in diagonally-arranged acanthusleaves. The lower half of the side casings or pilasters are widened and project in front of the paneled upper half and are partly covered by half-circle projecting columns II. The grate I is formed of horizontal bars in front and curved bottom bars J, and it projects as shown in Fig. 2. The columns H rest on square bases K and have projecting molded corniccs or caps on which the globes or finials L are seated. Below the grate a crown-plate M, having a series of square openings and checkered squares at its ends, extends between the bases of the columnsbelow the grate.

I claim as my invention- The design for a fireplace-front, as shown and described, the same comprising the representation of a molded dentieulated pr0jccting cornice over figures in relief of Colonial sunburst and aeanthus-leaves on the frieze, 5o figures representing vertical columns in relief on the lower half of the pilasters with caps, rectangular bases, and globular finials, and below the figure of a grate the figure of a crown-plate with openings and checkered squares and representations of beaded border-moldings, forming altogether the figure of an ornamental rectangular fireplace-front.
