' DESIGN.
Z.T.JONES. HEAD 0R FOOT BOARD. No. 24,888 Patented Nov. 12,1895.
WITEZZI: I. 3 KW BY WM ATTORNEYS mm mm. mammal-ml. DI.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ZAOIIARY T. JONES, OF NEV YORK, N. Y.
DESIGN FOR A HEAD OR FOOT BOARD.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 24,888, dated November 12, 1895.
Application filed October 11, 1895. Serial No. 565,420. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ZACHARY TAYLOR JONES, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city, county, and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Head or Foot Boards for Bedsteads, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, which forms a part hereof.
The figure of the drawing represents in elevation a head or foot board for a bedstead, which embodies my design.
My design relates more especially to the form or configuration of the head or foot board and is not directly concerned with the surface or other additional decoration or ornamentation which may be applied thereto, my object being rather the production of a design which shall be sufliciently attractive and decorative in itself, although it may be made to serve as a background, as it were, for additional decoration, which may be wrought in harmony with the general decoration of the room.
The leading features of the design consist in a broad plane surface surmounted by an open-work band, which is defined at top and bottom by strong horizontal lines and incloses an ornamentation, which springs from the lower bar or lined near the middle point and rises to the upper line or bar (I, spreading to each side as it rises.
As represented in the drawing, the broad plane surface a is of pleasing proportions and is marked at the ends by the corner-posts b, which extend above its upper margin to the top of the open-work band 0, the latter being defined by the lines or bars (I. The ornamentation e in the rocoeo style partly fills the space between the top and bottom line (I, springing from the middle and spreading as it rises in symmetrical lines and convolutions and appearing to the eye to support the upper line or border (I.
Vhat I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a head or foot-board for a bedstead, substantially as shown and described.
This specification signed and witnessed this 4th day of October, A. D. 1895.
ZAOHARY T. JONES.
