SETII TILLIAM BABUITT, OF llIERIDEN, CONNECTICUT, ASSIGNOR TO THE WILCOX SILVER PLATE COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR THE ORNAMENTATION 0F SILVER 0R OTHER TABLE-WARE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 19,701, dated March 18, 1890. Application led December 24, 1889. Serial No. 334,895. Term of' patent 3% years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SETH WILLIAM BAB- BITT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Meriden, in the county of New Haven and State of Conneetieut,haVc invented and produced a new and original Design for the Ornainentation of Silver or other '1`a.ble\Vare; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of said invention, reference being had to the accom panyin g photographs, and to the letters of reference marked thereon7 which form a part of this specification.
In said photographs several different articles are shown, each having my design impressed thereon.
The leading feature of my design consists in an ornamentation for the surface of silver or other table-ware, said ornamentation comprising repeated owers of similar appearance scattered rather closely over a roughened groundwork, eaeh flower havingaraised center and radiating petals.
A is the raised center, which is circular in its general contour, and a a. are the groups of lines radiating therefrom, and each group is partially inclosed by a curved line. The meeting of the curved lines gives the appearance of a seallopline l, surrounded or inclosing the groups of radiating lines, the whole design having the appearance of a flower, of which the raised surface A is the center and the spaces inside the curved lines are the petals. The surface inside the scallops is smooth, While the surface between the scallops of repeated flowers is rough or matted, as at C.
lVhat I claim is- The design for the ornamentation of silver or other table-ware, as shown and described.
