DESIGN.
E. G. MOORE. SPOON, FORK, OR OTHER TABLE UTENSIL. No. 19,210. Patented July 16, 1889.
MN l neage; Iu ucn foz I 93311 Mb tll'fozucuod/vz MW UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
EDWARD C. MOORE, OF YONKERS, ASSIGNOR TO TIFFANY & COMPANY, OF
NE\V YORK, N. Y.
DESIGN FOR A SPOON, FORK, OR OTHER TABLE UTENSIL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 19,210, dated July 16, 1889.
Application filed Kay 24, 1889. Serial No. 312,005- Tarm of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, EDWARD C. MOORE, a citizen of the United States, and a resident. of Yonkers, \Vestchester county, New York, have invented a new and original Design for Spoons, Forks, or other Table Utensils, of which the following is a specification, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of the same.
This invention relates to a design to be imparted to or worked upon spoons, forks, and other table utensils; and it consists in the novel configuration and ornamentation herein specifically shown and claimed.
Figure 1 of the accompanying drawings is a front view of a spoon with my design applied thereto, and Fig. .3 is a rear view of the same.
My design is mainly worked upon and imparted to the handle of the table utensil, although a portion of the design extends over the body of the article. The outline of the edges of the handle is composed of a gentlynndulating curved line, broken occasionally to emphasize a change in the design, and the front and back faces of the handle are ornamented with figures in relief.
My design is composed of two parts-the front A ,(shown in Fig. 1) and the back B. (Shown in Fig. 2.) The front part A has at the base of the handle an ornament composed of curved lines and scrolls. From this ornament two series of lines-one series along each side of the handle-extend upward, following the curvature of the edges of the handle, and a few conventionalized leaf forms and scrolls are at intervals arranged over these lines. These lines terminate with curved-leaf forms near the upper end of the handle, narrowing or decreasing in number at the wider portion of the handle. In the upper and wider portion of the handle is a somewhat oval-shaped figure hounded by lines and curved ornaments, and at the extreme upper end of the handle is a somewhat crown-shaped orna- 5 ment. The back part B has at the base of the handle an ornament composed of curved lines and scrolls, from which extends downward an ornament having an irregularlycurved outline and mainly composed of ra- 5o diating lines. Two series of curved linesone series along each side of the handle-extend upward, following the curvature of the edges of the handle, and a few conventionalized leaf forms and scrolls are arranged at intervals over these lines. These lines terminate with curved-leaf forms near the upper end of the handle, widening or increasing in number at the wider portion of the handle. An ornament of curved lines is placed between and joins the ornaments on these lines just below this wider portion of the handle, and at the extreme upper end of the handle is a somewhat crown-shaped ornament.
The characteristic features of this design 6 comprise the series of lines on each side and leaf forms partly covering the same, the curved-line and scroll ornaments at the inner end of the handle, the crown-shaped ornaments at the outer end of the' handle, and the curved-line and scroll ornaments at the lower end of the wider portion.
\Vhat I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
l. Thedesign for spoons, forks, or other table utensils, consisting of the front A, sub stantially as shown.
2. The design for spoons, forks, or other table utensils, consisting of the hack B, sub stantially as shown.
3. The design for spoons, forks, or other table utensils, consisting of the front A and the back B, substantially as shown.
E. C. MOORE.
