JAMES A. MUNDY, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR A PAVEMENT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 18,708, dated October 30, 1888,
Application filed December 31, 1887. Serial No. 259.531. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:

My invention relates to composite pavements; and it consists of an ornamental design for the surface of such pavements.
By reference to the drawings, in which Fig ure l illustrates-my design and Figs. 2, 3, and 4 show modifications thereof, it will be seen that the essential and distinguishing and novel feature consists of depressions A in the surface, arranged in parallel series or rows, those in each row being connected together by parallel straight grooves B, passing from side to side of the depressions A, as in Fig. 1, or from each other in the same row, they may be made alternate, as at A A', Fig. 2, without varying from the main feature as stated, and again may be additionally connected by cross-grooves D, as in Fig. 4.
What I claim is- An ornamental design for the surface of com posite pavements, consisting of a series of parallel rows of small figures depressed below the surface, said gures in each row being joined together by connecting parallel grooves, sub stantially as shown and described.
