V. SCHUGK.
BRAID.
No. 18,589. Patented Sept. 4, 1888.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
VALENTINE SCHUCK, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO THE SU'IRO BROTHERS BRAID COMPANY, OF NEW YORK.
DESIGN FOR BRAlD.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 18.589, dated September 4, 1888.
Application filed August 0, lBFB. Serial No 182.364. Term of patent 14 years .To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, VALENTINE Season, of the city, county, and Stateof New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Braid for Trimming Ladies Garments and for other Purposes; and i do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification, in which my new design is illustrated in said drawing by a view in perspective, upon an enlarged scale, ofa piece of braid with its end cut transversely to show its outline in cross section.
The braid A presents in ils general configuration the appearance of a narrow extended strip having a deep central groove indenting one face thereof, and transversely rounded and crowned with a slight central longitudinallyprojecting rib upon its opposite face. In crosssection it presents an outline defined by two extended flattened oblate curves, b b, diverging at an obtuse angle from each other in manner to form a central re-entrant angle or cusp, c, at their intersection on one side, and which are intersected on the opposite side by the lines of asmaller convex curve, :1, projected outwardly immediately opposite said rc-eir trant angle, as shown in the drawing.
What I claim is- The design forapicce of braid herein shown and described, which consists in the form ini parted thereto, which is defined in cross section by two extended flattened elliptical curves diverging at an obtuse angle from each other to form a central re-cntrant angle or cusp at their intersection on one side, and which terminate on the opposite side in the intersecting lines of a central outwardly-pro jecting convex curve of small diameter.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two snhscribing witnesses.
VALENTINE SCHUCK.
