SPECIFICATION orrning part of Design No. 17,948, dated December 13, 1887.
Appliration filed November 10, 1887. Serial No. 254.871. Term of patent 35 years,
5 Design for a Pattern of a Ladys Costume; and
I do hereby declare that the engraved prints accompanying this specification convey to any one accustomed to using paper patterns a clear understanding of howa garment made up by 10 the pattern will appear.
The design shows a basque and a round walk ing-skirt. The skirt displays a long oval front drapery that falls to the edge of the skirt at the center, reveals the skirt to the belt at the :5 sides, and exhibits draping plaits and a long bournous loop in the top at either side of the center of the back; a lower back drapery that displays kilt-plaits flaring in fan fashion at its center, and a full upper back drapery that falls 20 straight to the edge below a long loose loop in each front edge, and is lifted to the top of the lower drapery at the center by loopings. The basque displays a pointed plaited plastron upon the front reaehing to the Waist-line and framed at the sides by oval rovers, a postiliou back thatdisprlays its skirt open at the center, coat-sleeves displaying elbow-sleeves deeply notched at the center .of the upper side, and: pufi's extending from beneath the elbow-sleeves nearly to the wristlcdges and exhibiting gathers at its upper and lower edges, and a standing collar.
