To all whom it may concern..-
Be it known that I, WALTER WILKINSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Providence, in the county of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have invented a new and original Design for the ornamentation of the Handles of Forks, Spoons, Knives, &c.; and I do'herehy declare the following specification, taken in connection with the accompanying photographic illustrations, forming a part of the same, to be a description thereof.
This design relates to the ornamentation of the handles of forks, spoons, knives, ladles, &c.; and it consists in the features hereinafter described and claimed.
Referring to the photographic illustrations, Figure 1 represents the front or face view, and Fig. 2 the rear or back view, of a handle ornamentedlwith the design.
As shown in Fig. 1, the front or face of the handle A is ornamented by a branch of lanrel, B, which extends longitudinally of the The central portion of this branch is obscured by clouds C, in which are seen birds 0, and by ashield, D, arranged above said clouds. The rear face or back of the handle is ornamented by branches of foliage E E, arranged near the edges of the handle and cxtcnding longitudinally of the same, the upper portion of the handle being left an open field, F.
. What I clain1,and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. In a design for the ornamentation of the handles of forks, spoons, knives, data, the branch B, extending longitudinally of thehandie, the. clouds G, and birds 0, and the shield D, substantially-as described and shown.
2. In a design for the ornamentation of the handles of forks, spoons, knives, &c., the branches of foliage E E, arranged near the edges of the handle and extending longitudinally upon the central portion of the same, the upper portion of the handle having an open field, F, substantially asdescribed and shown.
' 3. 'In a design for the ornamentation of the handles of forks, spoons, knives, &c., the branch B, extending longitudinally of the handie, the clouds O, and birds 0, and the shield D, all upon one face of the handle, and the branches of foliage E E, arranged near the edges of the handle upon its opposite face, substantially as described and shown.
