DESIGN FOR A RUG.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 16,487. dated January 19, 1886.

To all whom, it may concern:

Be it known that I, ADOLPH PETzoLD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented and produeed a. new and original Design for a Rug; and I do hereby declare that the photographic print accompanying this specification conveys to any one skilled in the art a clear under-` standing of the same, and is sufficient to enable such persons to use my invention.

The leading features of my design consist in a center panel ornamented by oral figures, as shown. This panel is surrounded by a wide border ornamented by scrolls and floral figures. The four corners of this Wide border are made partly circular, and each circular corner is ornamented by a ower having leaves formed like the leaves of a sunflower. The whole is surrounded by a narrow ornamental border, as shown.

The photographic print illustrates and rept resents but one-half of the rug. VThe other half, described but not shown, is exactly like it.

What I claim as my invention is The design for a rug, consisting of a center panel ornamented by a floral representation, as shown, surrounded by a wide border ornamented by scrolls, iloral figures, and corner ornaments, the whole surrounded by a narrow o ornamental border, as shown and described.
