BENJAMIN 1). TRAITEL, on NEW YORK, N. Y.
DESIGN toe A FINGER-RING.
srnorrronrron forming part of Design No. 14,247, dated August-28, 183,
' Application filed May 3, Tohn of patent 8} years.
To all'whom it may concern..-
Be it known that I, BENJAMIND; TBAITEL, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of New York city, in the county of New York and State of New York, have inventedand produced a new and original Design for Finger-Bings,-of which the following is a speci. ficatio'n, reference being had to the accom panying drawings, forming part thereof;
This invention relates to a novel design -for finger-rings; and it consists in various features of configuration and ornamentation, which will be hereinafter more fully described; and particularlypointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1- is atop plan view of a ring embodying my invention. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same, and Fig. 3 avertical cross-section taken at the line a: mof the first-named figure.
The same letters of reference indicate the A is the shank or hoop of the ring, and B the setting thereof, to which latter my invention has particular reference. This setting B, I form of any suitable material, and produce therein a central depression .or sunken portion, b, and onto the outer surfaceof. this depressed part Imonnt or arrange an ornament-os, for example, an initial letter, a.
In' the case in which I have illustratedmy invention I have shown the settingB rectanave shown that portion of the setting immediately surrounding the depression b corrugated or fluted in contour and of an elliptical shape. The uppermost-surface of the setting B or that portion lying in a plane above that oi the part b, I have ornamented with radiating lines or rays, as seen at e. a Contiguous to the setting B, and on either side thereof, the shank A is madeflaring, and
is formed withseveral V-shaped notches, i producing a serrated edge, from which extend downwardly obliquely-engraved linesn,'meet l ing perforations m in the shank of the'ring.
Although I have shown the depression 6 that any other raised letter orornament may be used in lieu-thereof.
The ornament a, I make of athickness equal to the distance between thenppermost portion of the setting and the top surface of the -de pression b, or inother words, equal to "the depth of the epression b, sons to bring the top face ofthe ornament about flush with the uppermost or outer face of thesetting B; and in practice I have in some instances made the ornament a in two colors by the well-known method, which renders the setting, as a whole, still more handsome and efiective in appearance.
What I claim asmy inventi0n, anddesiret0 r secure by Design LettersPatent, is-
1. A finger-ring having substantially the configuration and ornamentation shown and described. j p p 2. A finger-ring setting having a central depression and a raised ornament therein, the
wall-of the setting surrounding the depression being corrugated or fluted, as shown and described. I a
3. ':A finger-ring setting having a central depression and raised ornament therein, the top surface of the setting being ornamented with radiating lines or rays, snbstantiallyassh own and described.
4. A finger-ring setting having a cent-raidepression and a raised ornament therein,.the
- wallof the setting being corrugated or fluted,
and the top or uppermost surface of the set ting ornamented with radiating-lines or rays, substantially as shown and described.
, 5. Afinger-rin'g setting, rectangular in out line, having a central depression of elliptical form, and a raised ornament therein, substan-' tially as shown and described. l
6; A fing "r-rin'g having'a setting with central depression and raised ornament therein,
and serrated shank ends, substantially as shown and described.
7.v Afinger-ring having a setting with central depression and raised ornament therein,
and serrated shank ends, and ornamentation n m,snb'stantial ly as shown and described.
