DESIGN FOR A CARPET.
SPECIFICATION formingpart of Design No. 13,702, dated March 6, 1883. Application filed December 12, 1882. Term of patent 3!,- years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, CHARLES MAGEE, of Brooklyn. in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and original 5 Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a new and original design for carpets and similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel grouping and configuration of parts,hereinafter more fully described.
The accompanying photograph illustrates a face view of a carpet having my new design.
B is a stripe containing ornamentation composed of a curving flower-like figure, c, alternating with figure I), resembling afiower springing from a curving leaf. Below the stripe Bis a band, It, containing ornamentation of circular figures set atintervals. The stripe 1) contains a group, C, composed of circular flowerlike figures t t, which form the base for a sort of pyramid, of which the similar circular figure 8 forms the top, and on each side of the figure s is a figure, r, somewhat resembling an open rose, the whole being surrounded and entwined with branches and leaves. The group E, in the same stripe, is composed of a leaf-like figure, a, above which appear a couple of star-flowers, e, and above these, on
| each side, are two curving branches,jj, bear ingleaves. These two groups alternate along 0 the stripe. The band 1* contains circular figures at, set at intervals, a series of arched figures, y, along its top, and a zigzag ornamentation, z, along its bottom portion.
I claim- 1. The design for carpets, consisting of the stripe 13, containing figures b and c, substantially as shown.
2. The design for carpets, consisting of the stripe B, containing figures b and c and band h, substantially as shown.
3. The design for carpets, consisting of the stripe D, containing figures r s t v ej, substantially as shown.
4. The design for carpets, consisting of the 5 hand F, containing figures y w z, substantially as shown.
