Application filed May .22, 1882. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, JOHN A. DEKNATEL, of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented and produced anew and original Design for Buttons, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
Reference is to be had to the accom 'ianying drawing, forming part of this specification, in which my newly-designed button is shown.
The leading feature of my design consistsin a shield or field surmounted by two quadrants having the ends projecting toward the top and sides of the upper part of the shield. The shield extends from about the middle of the button to the edge, and may be provided with any desired ornament. The quadrants are surrounded by a semicircular row of very fine and minute beads. A series of single beads are arranged at each side of the shield, and a single bead is arranged at each side of the upper part of the shield, the latter beads being contained within the quadrants surmounting the top of the shield. A segmental part of the edge of the button, above the quadrants, is ornamented with beveled teeth. At the sides of the lower part of the shield the edge of the button is widened, and a sector-shaped or triangular ornamented field is formed. The sides of the shield, quadrants, beads, and the edge of the button are beveled to form beveled grooves.
This design may also be used for breastpins, medallions, or other like disk ornaments.
Having thus fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. The herein-described design for buttons, consisting ofa shield surmounted by two quadrants, as set forth.
