SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 12,463, dated September 13, 1881. Application filed August 9, 1881. Term of patent 3} years.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, Wmrnaor L. JACOBS, of East Orange, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and 5 original Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to a new and original design for carpets and similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel grouping and configura- 1 0 tion of H gures, hereinafter more fully described.

The accompanying photograph illustrates a face View of a carpet having my new design.

The ground of the carpetis divided into two parallel portions, A and B. The portion A has a lower stripe, a, and an upper stripe, I). Between these stripes are series of fancifnlleaves, O D E F G, on a suitable background.

The stripe a is composed of vertically-placed narrow ornaments, and the stripe b by diago- 2o nally-placed blocks.

The part B of the carpet contains fanciful leaves H H, rosettes I, and an intermediate castellated stripe, J C
