Specification forming part ofDesign No. l 1, 55 l dated December 23,1879; application filed October 20, 1879.
- [Term of patent 7 years] To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, J osmn PARTRIDGE, of the city, county, and State of New York, have originated and designed a Chair, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, making part of this specification.
A represents the back posts of the chair, which posts are curved and recurved, as at a and b. The front edges or faces of these posts are ornamented by moldings 0. Connecting these back posts near their upper end is a head-piece, B, composed substantially of an open continuous frame, with the inclosed space 01 crossed vertically by ornamental posts 0, and with balls ffiXed to the upper edge of the frame coincident With the ornamental posts before referred to, the whole head-piece forming thedesign of a coronet. Near the seat 0, and extending from one back post, A, to another is a plain curved bar, D. Extending from this last-mentioned bar to the head-piece B, centrally, is a polygonal piece, E, with an ornamental opening, 9, formed therein. The frame of the seat (3, which is circular, or nearly so, around its edge, is ornamented by a molding, h, extending around the front and sides of the seat-frame from back post to back post, and
from the under side of this seat-frame depends an ornamented cleat, z', of the design shown in the drawin The front legs, G, are straight and cylindrical in form and ornamentally turned. The back legs, H, are rectangular in section, and connected to the front legs by cylindrical braces it, the front legs being united to each other by ornamentally-turned braces Z.
