Description
021-784 AU EX D2676 OR 0 011,210
Design No. 11,210, dated May 27, 1879 DESIGN FOR A BlLLlARD-TABLE.
Specification forming part of Design No. 11,210, dated May 27, 1879; application liled March 29, 187.9.
[Term of patent 7 years] To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HUGH W. OOLLENDER, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new Design for Billiard- Tables, of which the following is a specification.
The nature of my new design for billiardtables is fully represented in'the wood-cut illustration, to which reference is made.
A is the body. B the'bed, and (J the cushionrails, of the table. The bed and cushion-rails are of the usual form, and the body A is of the shape peculiar to what are known as beveled tables.
The body A is ornamental superficially, as illustrated, or in any other desired manner, and, by preference, has four fancy cornerpicccs, b, and at the middle of each of its two longer sides an ornament, e, as shown.
The body of the table is supported by an ornamental frame, composed of four legJike portions, G, tied together or braced nearer the lower extremities by a horizontal platforin-like portion, I, the general outline of which is about rectangular, and which is, by preference, of open-work, and may be ornamental, as shown, or otherwise.
The distinctive character of my design is found in the form of the supporting-frame, which, as shown, has four leg-like parts, G, that are scrolled or curved at their upper ends, so that the table-body rests on the curved portions, and which, running in a curved line downwardly and inwardly for so distance, and about to the level of the ho zontal portion I, thence continue outward in substantially straight directions, as shown.
The surface ornamentation may, of course, be varied without departing from the design, as may be also the shape and ornamentation of the horizontal part I of the supportingframe.
What I claim is The design for the supporting-frame of a billiard-table, the same being composed of the down wardly and inwardly curved leg portions G, and outwardly straight terminating portions, curved at their upper extremities, sub stantially as described, and shown in the accompanyin g illustration.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 28th day of March, 1879.
H. W. COLLENDER.
In presence of- J AMBS J. BYRNES, Morrow) W. HAYWARD.
