DESIGN.
H. W. COLLENDER. Billiard-Table.
No. 11,209. Patented May 27,1879,

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HUGH \V. GOLLENDER, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
DESIGN FOR A BlLLlARD-TABLE.
Specification forming part of Design No. 11,209, dated May 27, 1879; application liled March 29, 1579.
[Term of patent 7 years] To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HUGH W. OOLLENDER, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new Design for Billiard-Tables, of which the following is a specification.
The nature of my new design for billiard-tables is fully represented in the accompanying wood-cut illustration, to which reference is made.
A represents the body, B the bed, and O the cushion-rails, of the table, the last two mentioned parts being of the usual form, while the first-named portion is of that form peculiar to what is known as a beveled table.
The body A of the table is supported upon four leg-like portions, D, which extend downward in outwardly-curved directions, as shown, from the four corners of the base of the body, and terminate at the four corners of an ornamental horizontal tie-frame, E. From the four corners of this portion E extend downward four feet-like portions, F, that spread outwardly, and, in one sense, constitute continuations of the leg parts D. Each leg and foot portion, taken together, presents, in elevation, a support composed, it will be seen, of an outwardly-curved part, D, terminating in a substantially-straight part, F, running obliquely outward. The horizontal portion E, which serves to tie together and brace the supporting portions D F, has an ornamental centerpiece at e, and may be ornamental in detail, as shown, or otherwise.
The beveled body part A of the table may be superficially ornamental, as shown, or otlr erwise, and, by preference, has at the middle of each long side an ornament, f, and at each corner an ornamental corner-piece, g.
I am aware that the beveled form of body variously ornamented is not new, and that this form of bod y has been supported upon a framelike portion composed of four up-and-down parts and a horizontal cross-tie portion; but the distinctive features of my design are found in the outwardlycurved descending portions D and outwardly-flared parts F, with an ornamental horizontal base portion, E.
What I claim as my invention is- The design for the supporting-frame of a billiard-table, the same being composed of the outwardlycurved and descending leg portions D, straight outwardly-flared portions F, and the horizontal connecting portion E, substantially as described, and shown in the accompanying illustration.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 28th day of March, 187 9.
H. \V. UOLLEND ER.
In presence of- JAMES J. BYRNES, MULFORD W. HAYWARD.
