Description

XI-w,
January "55,
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
SIMON WIENER, OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, ASSIGNOR TO WIENER & CO., OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR HARNESS-TRIMMINGS.
Specification forming part of Design No. 10,406, dated January 15, 1878; application filed December 15, 1877.
[Term of Patent 7 years] To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SIMON WIENER, of the city of Newark, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have originated and designed a novel Design for Harness-Trimmings, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying photographic illustration.
The characteristics of the design are exhibited in the accompanying photographic illustration of a terret-ring, which is a representative harness-trimming, and intended to afford an instance of the invention, which consists in the ornamentation of the edges or ridges, or both, of harness-trimmings with a band of contrasting appearance, regardless of the peculiar article to which the ornamentation may be affixed, so that the contrasting band he placed upon the edge thereof, or upon a ridge or ridges on the article.
The essential distinction of the design consists in a contrasting band placed upon the crest of a ridge or the extreme portions of an edge, or on both, when possible, in the same article.
Preferably the harness-trimming should be and described.
2. A harness-trimmin g having a ridge, upon the extreme crest of which is placed a band of contrasting appearance, and having, also, a base, the edge of which is ornamented by a band of contrasting metal, substantially as shown and set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing design for harness-trimmings, as above described, I have hereunto set my hand this 8th day of December, 1877.
SIMON WIENER.
