FRIEDRICH NEBLUNG, OF VELBERT, GERMANY.
SLIDE-B 0LT.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRIEDRICH NEBLUNG, a citizen of the German Empire, residing at Velbert, Province of Rhenish Prussia, Kingdom of Prussia, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Slide-Bolts; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appentains to make and use the same.
The subject-matter of the present application is an improved slide-bolt for cupboards, doors and other objects, the peculiarity of which consists in the bolt-guide or plate being pressed out in places in order to form bridge-pieces for guiding the bolt and at other places being pressed in such a manner that lateral guides are formed for the bolt. The new slide-bolt as compared with well-known slide-bolts possesses the advantage that with a simplified construction the bolt is guided on the bolt-guide or plate with greater certainty and yet with greater ease. Slide-bolts in which the bolt-plate is so formed by stamping or pressing that guides for the bolt are produced are, it is true, well. known. Slide-bolts according to the present invention are, however, distinguished from these both in construction and action and possess material practical and economical advantages as set forth by the drawings and the following description.
The accompanying drawing illustrates, by way of example, two embodiments of the present invention.
In said drawingsz-Figure 1 is a longitudinal section of the first embodiment on the line AA, Fig. 2, Fig. 2 a plan, and Fig. 3 a transverse section on the line BB, Fig. 2.
The new slide-bolt consists of the boltguide or plate 1 and the bolt 2, which latter consists of a strip of pressed concave sheet Specification of Letters Patent.

metal which at its back end is bent at right angles so as to form a handle. A bolt of this form is sufliciently strong though made of thin material and through having only a small bearing surface moves with but little friction. Arch-shaped bridge-pieces 3 for guiding the bolt 2 are pressed out at different parts of the sheet metal forming the boltguide. The parts l of said sheet metal which lie between the bridge-pieces 3 are pressed out in such a manner that lateral raised guiding edges 5 are formed for the guidance of the bolt 2. The bolt is thus guided not only in the bridge-pieces but also laterally throughout its length between the edges 5. In order to strengthen the boltguide it is fluted at its outer edges and at the7edges of the bridge-pieces 3, as is seen at Resilient tongues 6 are cut out in the parts 4; of the bolt-guide, which tongues are bent upward and press against the bolt 2 and consequently secure the latter in its dif ferent positions. Instead of being provided with two tongues the slide-bolt may be pro vided with only one.
What I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is A slide-bolt comprising in combination a bolt in the form of a channeled strip of sheetmetal bent at right angles and a bolt-guide having fluted edges and pressed out fluted bridge-pieces at one side of the bolt and pressed out lateral guidance ledges at the other side of the bolt and between said bridge-pieces, and resilient tongues cut out in the parts between said bridge-pieces.
In testimony whereof, I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
FRIEDRICH NEBLUNG. [Ls] IVitnesse's:
ALFRED I-IENKEL, CHAs. J. WRIGHT.
