DRAWER-STOP.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented April 30, 1907.
Application filed December 18, 1905. Serial No. 292,309.
To all whom. it 'nm/y con/cern,.-
Be it known that we, l/ViLLiAM L. TUELL and HERMAN H. BORGERDING, citizens ot the United States, residing at New Albany, in the county of Floyd and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful lmprovements in Drawer-Stops; and we do de clare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements in drawer stops.
The object of the invention is to provide a device of this character by means of which drawers are held in position and prevented i'roin being pushed in too far. j
l l l A further object is to provide a device olE l this character which is simple and inexpensive in construction and which may be quickly and easily applied and which has f great strength to resist the strain to which it l is subjected.
l/Vith the above and other objects in view, j the invention consists of certain novel lieatures of construction, combination and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter def scribed and claimed. l
\ In the accompanying drawings :--Figure 1 is a sectional view through a portion oil1 a desk and drawer, showing the application oiT i the invention; and Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the stop.
l Referring more particularly to the drawings, l denotes the stop, which is formed from a wedge-shaped piece of Hat metal havl l ing the head-portioii 2 provided with integral, laterally-projecting wings 3, which are j curved slightly inwardly and lie in approxii niately the saine plane as said head 2, the edges of said wedge-shaped piece oi nietal being cut away to torm said wings 3, the l lower edges of said wings being preferably pointed to engage the drawer and hold said wings securely. This curvature of the wings produces a hcad which is transversely concavo-convex, so that when applied to a drawer oil'ers greater resistance than a straight piece of metal and is not so liable to become bent or broken. Formed integral with thc head 2 below the wings 3 is a securing point -iL lying in the same plane as the head and adapted to be driven into the wood ol`V the drawer i'rame. The point 4 is preferably notched, as at 5, along its edges so that when driven into the wood the point will be securely held against accidental withdrawal.
From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, the construction and operation of the invention will be readily understood without requiring a more extended explanation.
Having thus described our invention, what we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters-Patent, is
A drawer stop comprising a head having laterally extending, transversely curved wings lying in approximately the saine plane as the head, and `Forming in conjunction therewith a transversely concavo-convex strain-resisting member, said wings having means for penetrating and engaging the arti- 1 cle to which the stop is to be applied, and a securing` point :formed on said head in the saine plane therewith and having notches for holding it against iif'ithdraiif'al.
ln testimony whereof we have hereunto set oui' hand in presence ol two subscribing witnesses.
