BAG-LOCK.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed January 23, 1913.
Patented Dec. 2,1913. Serial No. 743,758.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, GLAUs A. LANDER- HOLM, a citizen of Sweden, residing at Phillips, in the county of Hamilton and State of Nebraska, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bag-Locks, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in bag locks andits object is to produce a device of this class that is simple in construction and operation and cheap to manufacture.
lVith the foregoing and other objects in view the invention consists in the combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter fully described in the following specification, pointedout in the claims and illustrated in the accompanying drawing which forms a part of said specification and in which Figure 1 is a view of the lock in operative position upon a bag. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the lock. Fig. 3 is an end elevation.
Like reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views.
My lock comprises a block formed with a concave edge land a somewhat convex edge 2, the convex edge being formed with a longitudinal centrally disposed groove 3 and the concave edge provided with a spring 1 terminally seated in the block and projecting above the same. The convex edge of the block meets one end 5 of the block while the concave edge is separated from the end edge 5 by a truncated edge 6 and at this edge a pin 7 is embedded in the block and provided at its free end with a cord or other flexible member 8 of considerable length. The end edge 5 is formed with a depression 9 and with a recess 10 opening into said depression and near the junction of the edge 5 With the edge 2 a lever 11 is terminally pivoted in the block and adapted when oscillated toward the block to pass between the pair of steel springs, 12, 12, which are adapted to frictionally lock it in this position. The cord 8 is adapted to be passed around the bag 13 to be locked, pressing the bag against the spring A} and the concave edge of the block, and over the edge 2 of the block when it occupies the groove 3 and beyond this groove it is wound about the lever 11 which is then pressed toward the block between the springs 12, 12 and the bag is locked.
What is claimed is 1. In a bag lock, a block formed with concavo-convex lateral edges and with an end edge formed with a depression and a recess leading into said depression, a spring terminally embedded in the concave lateral edge of said block, a lever mounted in the end edge of said block, locking means for said lever when in one position and a flexible member secured to said block and adapted to be passed partially thereabout and to engage said lever.
2. In a bag look, a block formed with concavo-convex lateral edges and with an end edge formed With a depression and a recess leading into said depression, a spring terminally embedded in the concave lateral edge of said block, a lever mounted in the end edge of said block, springs embedded in said end edge for retaining said lever in one position and a flexible member secured to said block and adapted to be passed partially thereabout and to engage said lever.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereto affixed my signature in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
CLAUS ADAM LANDERHOLM.
