GEORGE KRENZKE, OF RAGINE, WISCONSIN.
ROPE-HITCH.
To cZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE KRnNzxn, citizen of the United States, residing at Racine, in the county of Racine and State of VVisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Rope-Hitches, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to rope hitches, especially designed to serve as a bracket for holding the ends of clothes lines, and the object thereof is to provide a onepiece construction which will be simple, cheap, and durable.
Further objects and advantages of my in vention will be hereinafter described, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, illustrating my invention, and forming a part of this specification, and in which,
Figure l is a front elevation of my improved device, illustrating the practical application of the same. Fig. 2 is a top plan View thereof. Fig. 3 is a side elevation thereof, and, Fig. 4 is a central vertical sectional view taken therethrough on the line 4--4 of Fig. 1.
In the drawings, wherein is illustrated a preferred embodiment of my invention, the numeral 1 designates a vertically disposed flat plate, to form the body portion of the device. This body portion is provided at its upper and lower ends, with approximately semi-circular out out portions 2, to receive supporting means, (not shown). The plate 1 is provided at its upper end and centrally thereof, with a depending tongue 3, which is curved in cross section, as shown. The lower wall 4 of this tongue is disposed in an inclined position with relation to the plate 1, and being spaced from said plate, said tongue forms with said plate a Wedgeshaped opening. The opening formed by the upper curved wall of the tongue 3, merges into the upper cut-out portion 2, as shown. The plate 2 is further provided at its upper end, with oppositely extending horizontally disposed arms 5, each of which is provided with an outstanding ear 6, upon the forward edge of which is formed an upstanding flange 7. The ear 6 is provided, as shown,

with a laterally extending lip 8, which is curved in vertical cross-section in a plane parallel to said body portion. The flange 7 is curved in horizontal cross section.
In the use of my device, the same is suitably secured to a support, such as a wall, by means of screws, or the like which are dis posed within the cut out portions 2. A rope A is then placed upon the ears 6 and a portion of said rope is disposed between the tongue 3 and plate 1, as shown. It is obvious that when the rope is pulled. or tightened, the portion of the same between the tongue 3 and plate 1, will be securely gripped and prevented from displacement. The rope A may now be led forwardly of the device at a great many different angles, and said rope will still be held securely by the device.
Having fully described my invention, I claim:
In a device of the character described, a fiat plate to form the body portion of the device, said plate being provided at its ends with cut out portions to receive supporting means, a tongue formed upon the upper end of said plate and extending downwardly and having an inclined position with relation to the plate to form in effect a wedgeshaped space between said tongue and plate, said tongue being curved in horizontal cross section to form an opening to merge into the upper cut-out portion, arms formed upon said plate near its upper end and extending horizontally in opposite directions, each of said arms being provided on one side thereof with an outstanding ear, an upstanding flange formed upon said ear and being curved in horizontal cross section, and a lip formed upon said ear, said lip being curved in cross-section in a plane parallel to said body portion.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
GEO. KRENZKE.
