Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 27,1914.
Application filed May 19, 191 1. Serial N 0. 839,630.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I,Jo1-IN M. Line, a citizen of the United States, residing at Atkins, in the county of Benton, State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements .in Brackets; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention:i'elates to improvements in brackets and particularly to the type of brackets which have the inclined supporting arms.
The principal object of the invention is to provide a bracket which is simple and cheap in construction and which will be durable and effective in use.
Another object is to provide a bracket which will not be liable to. sag or swing from side to side.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings.
In the drawings: Figure 1 is a side elevation of a bracket made in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is a top plan view.
Fig. 3 is a horizontal sectional view on the line 83 of Fig. 1. Fig. 4 is a vertical section on the line 4% of Fig. 1.
Referring particularly to the accompanying drawing, 10 represents the horizontally extending bracket arm which is formed preferably of angle iron. Secured to the underside of the rear or inner end of this arm is an angle plate 11 having an upturned end adapted to engage within an.
opening formed in a wall, fence or the like. Secured also to the rear end of the arm 10 is a downwardly extending leg 12 formed of angle iron, and connecting the arm 10 and leg 12 is an inclined brace 13. Detachably secured to the arm 10, by means of the clamping bolt 14., and intermediate the length of the arm 10, are the forward ends of the rearwardly extending inclined brace The rear ends of these arms have arms 15. the laterally directed portions 16 carrying sharpened pins or points 17, these points being. adapted to bite into the wall or fence so as to prevent the arm 10 from swaying to the rearend of said arm, and formed with a sharpened element, an inclined brace connectlng the leg and arm, and laterally and rearwardly directed steadyingarms detachably secured at their forward ends to the first named arm and having their rear ends formed of laterally directed portions having. non-slippable elements thereon.
In testimony whereof, I affix my signature, in the presence of two witnesses.
