rin rrn CHARLES J'. OADDELL, 0F MAXTON, NORTH CAROLINA.
PLOW.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, CHARLES'J. CADDELL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Maxton, in the county of Robeson and State of North Carolina, have invented a new and useful Plow, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to plows, one of its objects being to provide an adjustable standard mounted in a novel manner whereby it can be shifted readily to difierent angles relative to the beam and held securely.
A further object is to provide a structure which is simple durable and compact and can be applied readily to a beam.
With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention consists of certain novel details of construction and combinations of parts which will be hereinaf er more fully described and pointed out in the claim, it being understood that various changes may be made within the scope of the appended claim without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the accompanying drawings the preferred form of the invention has been shown.
In said drawings Figure l is a side elevation of a plow embodying the present improvements.
Fig. 2 is a section on line 22, Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a rear elevation, the handles being broken away and remote parts being re moved.
Referring to the figures by characters of reference, 1 designates the beam of a plow having the usual handles 2 provided with braces 3. The bolt 4 employed for fastening the braces to the beam also constitutes means for securing to the beam the forked upper end of a hanger The lower end of the hanger is also forked and is pivotally connected to the rear end of a runner 6, as shown at 7. The front end of the runner extends into and is pivotally connected to the forked lower end of the standard 8, as shown at 9. This standard is curved from Specification of Letters Patent.

end to end and the upper portion of said fork is mounted on and pivotally connected to the lower end of a supporting arm 10. This arm is formed integral with and extends downwardly and forwardly from a bar 11 which is bolted to the bottom of the beam 1 and has a flattened arcuate portion 12 concentric with the pivotal connection 18 between the arm 10 and the standard 8. The upper end of the standard is forked as at 14 and straddles and is slidably mounted on the arcuate portion of the bar 11. A cotter pin 15 or the like is extended through the upper portion of the fork and is adapted to be inserted into any one of a series of apertures formed in the arcuate portion 12. Thus the standard can be adjusted to and held at any desired angle relative to the beam. One side of the fork 14'.' is extended upwardly to form a lever 16 whereby movement of the standard is facilitated.
l/Vhat is claimed is The combination with a plow beam, of a bar secured to the bottom of the beam and having an arcuate flattened portion, a downwardly extending arm integral with the bar and arcuate portion, a standard pivotally mounted, between its ends, upon the lower end of the arm, a fastening device extending through the standard, there being a series of apertures within said arcuate portion of the bar and concentric with the pivot of the standard any one of said apertures being adapted to receive the fastening means, a lever constituting an extension of the standard and projecting above the beam, a hanger pivotally connected to the rear portion of the beam, and a runner pivotally connected at its end to the hanger and to the lower end of the standard respectively.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto afiixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
CHARLES J. CADDELL.
