F. M. MAGIARZ.
COLLAR.-
APPLICATION FILED JUNE 22, 1910.
u W W, w W M m M f UNITE;
FRANK M. MACIARZ, OF MARQUETTE, MICHIGAN.
COLLAR.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 28, 191 1.
Application filed June 22, 1910. Serial No. 5138324.
To att whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANK M. MACIARZ, of Marquette, in the county of Marquette and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Collars; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear and exact description of the 1nvention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The invention relates to collars of the type usually worn by ecclesiastics with the point of connection of the ends at the rear.
The object of my invention is to so form a collar of this type that it may fit necks of various sizes and at the same time will main-- tain its proper position under all conditions. The invention will be hereinafter fully set forth and particularly pointed out in the claim. I
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a view showlng a collar embodying my improvements opened out. Fig. 2 shows the same in its fastened position.
Referring to the drawings, 1 is a collar of the style known as the turn-over usually worn by clergymen, and 2 and 3 the fastening tongues. Ordinarily the fastening tongues, in a turn-over collar, consist of the overlapping portions of the inner sections of the collar, but according to my invention the fastening tongues 2 and 3 extend, respectively, from the inner and outer portions of a turn-over collar. tongue 2 is an elongation of the inner portion of the collar at one end while the'ntongue In other words, the
3 is an elongation of the outer portion of the collar at the other end. It is customary to have both tongues of about the same length,
but this is immaterial. Each tongue is provided with a series of buttonholes 4. to accommodate a button for uniting the two ends of the collar. By the described means a single collar may be fitted to necks of various sizes. Collars of'this type are not attached to shirt neck-bands, and in consequence trouble is usually experienced by the tongues pivoting on the collar buttons. But by elongating these tongues so that they will extend well between the inner and outer portions of'the collars bending at the point of location of the collar button is impossible, and in consequence there is little or no likelihood of the collar rising at the back. The rabat may be secured between the folds of the collar in the ordinary way or by any preferred means.
I claim as my invention:
A collar folded to form inner and outer portions, the outer portion at one end and the inner portion at the opposite end being elongated to form tongues, such tongues being designed to overlap and extend within vthe fold of the collar, and provided each Copies of'this patent may be obtained for five cents: each, by addressing the Commissioner of Patents, Washington, D. C.
